Sonoran SciComm Workshop for Sustainability

Erik Fisher was the music leader for a Sonoran Science Communication workshop, which Tom Seager organized. The participants learned and recorded a song Fisher wrote for the occasion entitled “Desert Rain.”

“The workshop itself was very enlightening, in that it pushed the boundaries of what I thought was possible. It tested all of us. The music session in particular was challenging but an absolute blast! I was impressed by the ability of all the musicians to come together and in 4 hours, record a successful and dynamic song. I hadn’t played my clarinet in years and was pleasantly surprised by the support I received from my fellow musicians when I and others struggled through parts of the process. The song itself is a symbol of our efforts and still gives me the chills when I listen to it,” said Kaitlin Vortherms, workshop participant.
