Internship Opportunities

Consortium for Science, Policy & Outcomes (CSPO) Internships 2026:

Technology Policy Case Studies
Interns on this project will help develop engaging case studies about major U.S. technology and innovation initiatives, from 19th century canals and rail to the 20th century Manhattan Project and Moon mission to current semiconductor policy. Working with CSPO faculty, you will research how government, industry, and communities have shaped large-scale technology projects, analyze what worked (and what didn’t), and help translate complex policy debates into accessible narratives used in classrooms, workshops, and policy discussions. This is an opportunity to build research, writing, and analytical skills while contributing to policy-relevant materials used by students, policymakers, and practitioners.

Community Participation in Science and Innovation Case Studies

Interns on this project will help develop case studies on community participation in science and innovation, focusing on how federal research agencies and local communities are reshaping the U.S. research ecosystem. Working with CSPO faculty, you will examine efforts by federal agencies to support community-engaged and use-based research, including initiatives involving citizen science, community colleges, HBCUs, and local organizations. Interns will research what programs and conditions enable communities to contribute knowledge, build research capacity, and partner with government agencies, and develop cases for use in teaching, policy workshops, and agency learning.
