Vishrudh Sriramprasad

Biography

Vishrudh Sriramprasad is a doctoral candidate at Arizona State University’s (ASU) School for Sustainable Engineering and the Built Environment. His research is focused at the intersection of carbon dioxide removal technologies, energy justice, and community engagement. He is specifically interested in studying, creating, and testing scaling and engagement processes which can help direct air capture technology be deployed rapidly and equitably. After graduating with a Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin in 2021, Vishrudh joined ASU’s Sustainable Engineering Master’s program under the guidance of Dr. Klaus Lackner. His Master’s focused on the industry perspectives of community engagement in carbon removal, place-based carbon removal scaling and deployment, and carbon removal certification. In 2023, he decided to continue his graduate studies with a PhD in the same department.

Currently, Vishrudh works as a research assistant for both the Center of Negative Carbon Emissions (CNCE) and the Consortium for Science, Policy and Outcomes (CSPO) to establish foundations in the engineering and engagement/ policy sides of the carbon removal field. Vishrudh plans to use his PhD to establish new methods, grounded in the literature, for engaging local communities and interweave with processes for scaling carbon removal infrastructure. After his PhD, he aspires to test, refine, and deploy these methods in the field.
