Biography

Patricia Reiter directs eight programs to advance sustainability practice by educating future leaders, delivering solution sets and engaging the public. She manages the implementation of a $27.5 M investment by Rob and Melani Walton through the Walton Family Foundation. In the first two years of operation of this university based social enterprise, she grew the team from 6 to 59, engaged over 300 faculty and 340 students and lead the effort to bring in contracts for over $2.6 M in revenue. In year one, her team established a global solutions service with a diverse client base, developed a new executive master’s program, launched a distinguished fellowship program, and enrolled 170 students in international classes focused on solving sustainability problems. She is currently launching three new efforts to embed sustainability education and practice in science museums, to train teachers to integrate sustainability concepts in curriculum and to establish a sustainability policy program. She is responsible for strategy, business operations, marketing, meeting deliverables and milestones to ensure long-term impact and viability of the programs.

In her former role as Development Director for the Global Institute of Sustainability
(GIOS), Patricia was an integral part of the team that refined concepts and negotiated
the deliverables for this transformative investment. She led the effort to identify priorities and articulate a vision of GIOS 3.0 that provided the context for the Walton Sustainability Solutions Initiatives programs. Through her cultivation of prospective investors, management of the Board of Directors for Sustainability at ASU, and collaborations with faculty, students and staff she built a strong foundation for moving the Institute forward.

Reiter initially joined the ASU as special adviser, board liaison and chief of
staff to the ASU Foundation President. She was also involved in the design and business strategy for SkySong, the ASU Scottsdale Innovation Center. Prior to joining the foundation, Reiter led large teams of staff and consultants delivering complex projects and optimized business operations for creative enterprises. She holds bachelor’s degrees in fine arts and architecture from the University of Tennessee and an MBA from
Simmons Graduate School of Business in Boston.

Patricia’s work is currently focused on impact investing, social enterprise models, and performance measurement for mission-driven enterprises. By employing design thinking and business acumen she directs a team of professionals to move sustainability solution sets and methods into practice.
