Matthias Galan

Biography

Matthias Galan is a postdoctoral research scholar at the School for the Future of Innovation in Society at ASU. He works in a project developing tools to align the merit review process at the Water Power Technologies Office (WPTO) at the Department of Energy with environmental and energy justice principles. In previous roles, he acted as adjunct faculty at McDonough Business School, Georgetown University, and worked as a consultant in a World Bank-funded project estimating the cost structures of green hydrogen for residential applications in developing countries. His research interests are energy justice in the global energy transition, green hydrogen partnerships, and off-grid solar energy access. He recently completed a PhD on off-grid solar energy access in Kenya and India at the Institute for Ecological Economics, Vienna University of Economics and Business.
