Biography

Carrie McDougall, Senior Program Manager for NOAA’s Office of Education, leads NOAA’s Science On a Sphere program and co-leads the Environmental Literacy Program, which involves collaborating with and providing grants to formal and informal science education organizations to build environmental literacy and promote the use of NOAA-related sciences and data products. Carrie came to NOAA in 2003 having received a Sea Grant Knauss Marine Policy Fellowship after completing a Ph.D. in ecology, evolution, and marine biology in 2002 from UC Santa Barbara (UCSB). While at UCSB, she conducted research on the cellular dynamics of marine dinoflagellate bioluminescence and was heavily involved in marine science education and outreach. She lives in Washington, DC where she enjoys biking, hiking, and restoring a historic home.
