Bonnie Ervin

Biography

Bonnie Ervin is a doctoral candidate at ASU’s School for the Future of Innovation in Society (SFIS) and is completing an International Doctoral Certificate in Responsible Innovation, collaboratively awarded by ASU, Delft University of Technology (Netherlands), and Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (Germany). Building on an MSW with a concentration in Planning, Administration, and Community Development, her research centers on digital health equity within complex socio-technical systems, focusing on principles of public interest technology.

With a background rooted in community engagement, Bonnie aims to shape policies that integrate diverse perspectives, enhancing democratic participation in decision-making. She serves on multiple National Institutes of Health (NIH) stakeholder advisory boards, where her insights support the integration of equitable, community-informed perspectives in health policy and program design.

Her work underscores the importance of collaboration between policy frameworks and grassroots efforts, developing pathways for meaningful input from diverse voices. By advancing adaptive feedback mechanisms, her research seeks to establish responsive structures that empower communities to participate more fully in shaping initiatives that support public health and equity. Through this research, she bridges theory and practice in responsible innovation, offering actionable insights for policymakers and practitioners to develop equity-centered approaches in technology policy.
